Calculate the item stage and the parcel stage separately. A card price alone is never a delivered total.
Replace the snapshot price with the selected option price
Start with the current listing, not the dated card. Select the exact size, colour, quantity or bundle and record the price shown for that option. Add any seller-to-warehouse delivery charge. If two items come from different sellers, check each domestic charge separately.
A price range on a card is a comparison hint. It does not promise that the size or colour you want is available at the lowest end of the range.
For a worked example using parcel dimensions, see Dimensional Weight Calculator: Compare Parcel Weights.
Use a worked estimate before you pay
The figures below are an illustration of the calculation, not a live UIDBuy quote or a promise that a route costs this amount. Replace every line with the amount shown for your own item and parcel.
| Cost line | Illustrative amount | When to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Selected product | ¥220 | Current item listing |
| Seller to warehouse | ¥10 | Item checkout |
| International parcel | ¥85 | Route quote after warehouse review |
| Subtotal before possible destination charges | ¥315 | Recalculate after the parcel is packed |
In this example, paying ¥230 for the item stage does not pay the later ¥85 parcel stage. Import charges, optional services or payment conversion are not included in the ¥315 illustrative subtotal.
Check what changes the parcel quote
The route depends on the destination, product classification and packed parcel. Carriers may price by actual weight or by package dimensions; a bulky but light box may cost more than its scale weight suggests. Packaging, consolidation and the measured parcel can change an early estimate.
Compare only routes that are actually offered for your destination and contents. Do not copy a quoted rate from another buyer without matching the parcel weight, dimensions, route and date.
Write down the parcel dimensions as well as the weight when the warehouse shows them. A 40 × 30 × 20 cm carton occupies 24,000 cubic centimetres even if the goods inside are light. The conversion from volume to chargeable weight depends on the carrier and route, so use the displayed quote rather than applying a universal divisor.
Compare two baskets, not just two card prices
A lower-priced item is not always the lower-cost choice after its option and domestic delivery are selected. If you are comparing sellers, make a small row for each candidate: selected item price, seller-to-warehouse charge, product restrictions and expected parcel route. Keep unknown amounts marked as unknown.
If two products come from different sellers, consolidating them into one international parcel does not erase their separate domestic delivery charges. The combined parcel can reduce repeated packing, but it may also be larger or lose a route because of one restricted item. Compare the combined route quote with the sum of separate route quotes when both choices are available.
Illustrative comparison: item A costs ¥220 plus ¥10 domestic delivery; item B costs ¥195 plus ¥20. Their item-stage totals are ¥230 and ¥215. You still cannot decide which is cheaper delivered until the eligible parcel quotes and destination charges are known.
Compare the full route terms
For each available route, check the shipping amount, estimated transit, tracking, insurance options, prohibited contents and how taxes are handled. A lower shipping quote may leave charges to be collected later; a more expensive route may include a different service. Read the route details rather than assuming either.
Perfume and other liquids may have fewer eligible routes than ordinary clothing. Check eligibility before using a cheap clothing route as the budget for a mixed parcel.
- Is the quote for the packed parcel or an earlier estimate?
- Are tracking, insurance or packaging services included or optional?
- Does the route describe taxes as included, excluded or unresolved?
- Will a change in measured weight or parcel contents trigger a new quote?
Include currency conversion in the comparison
If the item or parcel is billed in a currency other than CNY, record the checkout amount in that currency and the rate or converted total actually offered. A payment provider may use a different rate from a mid-market reference. The difference can matter even when no separate service-fee line appears.
Use the payable total on the actual checkout screen for a final comparison. Check whether the payment method, card issuer or wallet adds a separate conversion or cross-border charge, and compare the two payment stages in the same currency. Exchange rates and fees can change, so a percentage copied from an older comparison is not a reliable quote.
Illustrative conversion: a ¥315 subtotal is about $51.64 at 6.10 CNY per USD, but about $46.67 at 6.75. These are hypothetical rates, not current UIDBuy quotes. Check the rate and final payable amount shown for your own transaction.
Recalculate when the parcel is measured
Keep the item payment and parcel payment as separate records. When the warehouse produces the packed parcel quote, compare it with your earlier estimate and check for a balance adjustment. Do the calculation again if you split or combine items.
Leave destination taxes as a separate unknown until you have checked the applicable rules and the chosen route terms. The customs guide explains what information to verify, but no universal tax percentage applies to every destination.
A useful final record has the selected item amount, each domestic charge, the chosen parcel route and quote, any optional service, payment currency and charges that may still be collected on arrival. If one line is missing, the number you have is a subtotal rather than a dependable delivered total.
